I have taken a better look at the problem. This seems to be a problem with
pykde and pyqt. The following discussion seems to be relevant.

Are you using the Debian PyKde packages? The Debian PyKde4 packages are still
in experimental. The Debian bug report system only applies to programs
packaged by Debian. I will notice Detlev about the bug and please try the
link above.
