I just upgraded to 4.0-20090308-1, and I'm seeing the segfaults in foomatic-rip:
[818364.880610] foomatic-rip[6338]: segfault at ffffffff ip 080581ca sp bf8a6bd0 error 4 in foomatic-rip[8048000+16000] [818425.084464] foomatic-rip[6443]: segfault at ffffffff ip 080581ca sp bfb2ee60 error 4 in foomatic-rip[8048000+16000] [818511.017803] foomatic-rip[6560]: segfault at ffffffff ip 080581ca sp bf953c80 error 4 in foomatic-rip[8048000+16000] [818547.609992] foomatic-rip[6708]: segfault at ffffffff ip 080581ca sp bfc8f7b0 error 4 in foomatic-rip[8048000+16000] [818625.730917] foomatic-rip[6779]: segfault at ffffffff ip 080581ca sp bf9ab4d0 error 4 in foomatic-rip[8048000+16000] I downgraded the foomatic-filters package to 4.0-20090301-3 and everything is peachy again. I have an HL-1440, and I am using the driver that I just downloaded from http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Brother-HL-1440 The gutenprint drivers (which are used by default when I attach the printer via USB) work well for printing pdf documents (printed directly using lpr or evince), but somehow printing documents from openoffice causes significant problems (it prints out at about 4x the appropriate size). -- Michael R.
