Package: python-psycopg2
Severity: normal

Hello

I wonder why it was chosen to add the dependency on python-egenix-datetime
to solve bug #389636 rather than building the python-psycopg2 package without
it. According to the original bug message and to the psycopg FAQ retrieved
from the Internet Archive, il will compile just fine using the standard
datetime module, thus reusing a familiar API and avoiding the need for two
packages (counting python-egenix-mxtools). Indeed, I compiled it without any
configuration on a Sid machine. So, would it be possible to drop the
dependency?

Kind regards, Merwok
