Package: alien
Version: 8.74
Severity: normal

Alien cannot convert some RPM packages due to a change in rpm, which renders
rpm2cpio not working anymore.

For example :
$ sudo alien -v -g swimpomuk-0.1-0.112.1mdv2009.1.i586.rpm
        mkdir swimpomuk-0.1
        chmod 755 swimpomuk-0.1
        rpm2cpio swimpomuk-0.1-0.112.1mdv2009.1.i586.rpm | (cd swimpomuk-0.1;
cpio --extract --make-directories --no-absolute-filenames
--preserve-modification-time) 2>&1
Unpacking of 'swimpomuk-0.1-0.112.1mdv2009.1.i586.rpm' failed at
/usr/share/perl5/Alien/Package/Rpm.pm line 155.
        find swimpomuk-0.1 -type d -exec chmod 755 {} ;
        rm -rf swimpomuk-0.1

See #509444 for a workaround.

Hope this helps.
