wouldn't the following work?

Package: libkrb5-3
Conflicts: libkrb53 (<< foo)
Replaces: libkrb53 (<< foo)

it lets you install the new package, but makes sure libkrb53 also gets
upgraded if it's there, so should prevent the breakage reported here.
am i missing something?
