Unfortunately installing on SATA is problematic with the kernels the installer is currently using. Did you try booting the installer with 'linux26' (using the 2.6 kernel)? If you know which modules are needed for your controller, you may be able to get things going. If not, your best option is to wait until we are able to provide an installer using a 2.6.11 kernel.
