If you haven't touched the postgresql configuration manually then it's your 
fault :)

Moodle requires you to modify it, as it's explained 
in /usr/share/doc/moodle/README.Debian .

Sorry for taking sooo long to answer.

BTW, if you are interested I'm uploading Moodle 1.5 to Debian just now.
