Package: udev Version: 0.125-7 Severity: normal '/etc/udev/rules.d/91-permissions.rules' uses the following groups which aren't present on my lenny or etch boxes:
fuse kvm nvram rdma scanner tss On systems that are configured to get account information from LDAP, the lack of these groups causes a large number of log messages to be printed and a significant delay in booting the system. Here's an example of the log messages: udevd[640]: nss_ldap: could not connect to any LDAP server as (null) - Can't con tact LDAP server udevd[640]: nss_ldap: failed to bind to LDAP server ldap://193.62.81.2/: Can't c ontact LDAP server udevd[640]: nss_ldap: reconnecting to LDAP server... udevd[640]: nss_ldap: could not connect to any LDAP server as (null) - Can't con tact LDAP server udevd[640]: nss_ldap: failed to bind to LDAP server ldap://193.62.81.2/: Can't c ontact LDAP server udevd[640]: nss_ldap: reconnecting to LDAP server (sleeping 1 seconds)... udevd[640]: nss_ldap: could not connect to any LDAP server as (null) - Can't contact LDAP server udevd[640]: nss_ldap: failed to bind to LDAP server ldap://193.62.81.2/: Can't contact LDAP server udevd[640]: nss_ldap: could not search LDAP server - Server is unavailable udevd[640]: lookup_group: error resolving group 'rdma': Illegal seek Thanks for your help, Rupert -- Package-specific info: -- /etc/udev/rules.d/: /etc/udev/rules.d/: total 48 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3586 2008-09-19 02:11 50-udev.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1543 2008-09-19 02:11 60-persistent-input.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4554 2008-09-19 02:11 60-persistent-storage.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1582 2008-09-19 02:11 60-persistent-storage-tape.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 523 2008-09-19 02:11 60-persistent-v4l.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 452 2008-09-19 02:11 75-cd-aliases-generator.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3083 2008-09-19 02:11 75-persistent-net-generator.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2282 2008-09-19 02:11 80-drivers.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4247 2008-09-19 02:11 91-permissions.rules -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 593 2008-09-19 02:11 95-late.rules -- /sys/: /sys/block/md0/dev /sys/block/md1/dev /sys/block/ram0/dev /sys/block/ram10/dev /sys/block/ram11/dev /sys/block/ram12/dev /sys/block/ram13/dev /sys/block/ram14/dev /sys/block/ram15/dev /sys/block/ram1/dev /sys/block/ram2/dev /sys/block/ram3/dev /sys/block/ram4/dev /sys/block/ram5/dev /sys/block/ram6/dev /sys/block/ram7/dev /sys/block/ram8/dev /sys/block/ram9/dev /sys/block/xvda1/dev /sys/block/xvda2/dev /sys/class/input/mice/dev /sys/class/misc/cpu_dma_latency/dev /sys/class/misc/device-mapper/dev /sys/class/misc/evtchn/dev /sys/class/misc/network_latency/dev /sys/class/misc/network_throughput/dev /sys/class/misc/psaux/dev /sys/class/xen/gntdev/dev -- Kernel configuration: isapnp_init not present. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-xen-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages udev depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.24 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libselinux1 2.0.65-5 SELinux shared libraries ii libvolume-id0 0.125-7 libvolume_id shared library ii lsb-base 3.2-20 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip udev recommends no packages. udev suggests no packages. -- debconf information: udev/new_kernel_needed: false udev/reboot_needed: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
