I also experienced this issue after upgrading xkb-data to 1.5-2. My
machine is a Dell Latitude D610. Xorg logs show no errors either, with
kb set to pc104 (and tried with pc105 as well) and keymap to "us". As
others have stated, there were never any issues in the console, only in X.
As suggested by Gill Martin above, I installed xkb-data-legacy, which
resolved the problem, but means xkb-data is broken somehow.
