Package: ftgl-dev Version: 2.1.2-1 Severity: wishlist It looks like several packages with shared libraries need to use libftgl (gem, which triggered the need for -fPIC build, and tulip, which currently uses a copy of the source). Given the size of the lib, it may make sense to provide a shared version of it.
Further more, the current practice, of using a PIC static lib, is suboptimal for those packages willing to use the static version (PIC is slower). -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i586) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.4.27-k6 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=français (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages ftgl-dev depends on: ii libfreetype6-dev 2.1.10-1 FreeType 2 font engine, developmen ii libstdc++2.10-dev [libstdc++ 1:2.95.4-22 The GNU stdc++ library (developmen ii libstdc++5-3.3-dev [libstdc+ 1:3.3.6-7 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 (d ii libstdc++6-dev [libstdc++-de 3.4.4-1 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 (d ii mesag-dev [libgl-dev] 6.2.1-5 A free implementation of the OpenG ftgl-dev recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- Yann Dirson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> | Debian-related: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> | Support Debian GNU/Linux: | Freedom, Power, Stability, Gratis http://ydirson.free.fr/ | Check <http://www.debian.org/>
