Package: distcc
Version: 2.18.3-4.1
Severity: normal

distccd runs as user distcc, but apparently it uses /root/tmp as working dir.
I use /root permissions 0700. So this prevents distcc from running, and even
from installing cleanly.

# /etc/init.d/distcc start
Starting Distributed Compiler Daemon: distccd./distcc: start failed with error
code 107

/var/log/distccd.log says:
distccd[29577] (main) ERROR: failed to chdir to /root/tmp: Permission denied

This also happens during install, which means the distcc package is never
completely installed, leading to bugging whenever I install or upgrade
anything else.

I see no reason why distcc could not just use /tmp as cwd, or create a
/var/lib dir for it.
