Package: distcc Version: 2.18.3-4.1 Severity: normal distccd runs as user distcc, but apparently it uses /root/tmp as working dir. I use /root permissions 0700. So this prevents distcc from running, and even from installing cleanly.
# /etc/init.d/distcc start Starting Distributed Compiler Daemon: distccd./distcc: start failed with error code 107 /var/log/distccd.log says: distccd[29577] (main) ERROR: failed to chdir to /root/tmp: Permission denied This also happens during install, which means the distcc package is never completely installed, leading to bugging whenever I install or upgrade anything else. I see no reason why distcc could not just use /tmp as cwd, or create a /var/lib dir for it. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-686 Locale: LANG=da_DK.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=da_DK.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to da_DK.UTF-8) Versions of packages distcc depends on: ii adduser 3.102 Add and remove users and groups ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.11etch2 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13etch8 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libpopt0 1.10-3 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii netbase 4.29 Basic TCP/IP networking system distcc recommends no packages. -- debconf information: * distcc/daemon-allow: 10.0.0.0/16 * distcc/daemon: true * distcc/daemon-listen: 10.0.44.4 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
