You mean "aptitude dist-upgrade xserver-xorg-video-all"? Yes, this does
help:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
libdiscover1{a} libglib1.2{a} libgssapi2{a} libk3b2{a} liborbit0{a}
libpci2{a} modutils{a} xserver-xorg-video-newport{a}
xserver-xorg-video-via{a}
This result does look alright, removing these packages seems to be
ok, as far as I can tell (apt-get would remove the same packages).
