Hello!

I just ran in to what seems to be the same problem only with
spreadsheet templates and no document or spreadsheet open to begin
with. I tried:

% mv .openoffice.org2/user/ .openoffice.org2/user.crasch

while openoffice wasn't running, but I couldn't open my templates
after that either. What did help however was opening the template to
edit it:

File > Templates > Edit

and then select the template. Just make sure you save the template
with the new filename you want for it (and as a document, not a
template) before making any changes or they'll go in your template.

Hope this helps
/Ulrik Haugen
