  OK, I can only see one way that this line can crash.  I don't think
it should be happening, but I'll add the check in the attached patch to
defend against it.

  It could also be that the line number isn't quite right due to
optimization etc, but that at least tells me where to start looking.
Out of curiosity, what does "aptitude search ?upgradable" print?
