Package: kvm Version: 83+dfsg-1 Severity: normal Thanks for packaging kvm 83!
I did not notice any further "cpu0 unhandled wrmsr" problems. Unfortunately the performance of kvm is low in version 83 (and 82) compared to kvm 79. I noticed the problem especially with XP. kvm -boot c -hda xp.qc2 -hdb /dev/sda -daemonize -localtime -m 600 \ -no-reboot -serial null -soundhw es1370 -vga std The xp.qc2 image contains a NTFS file system with NTDETECT.COM, ntldr and a modified boot.ini which boots from /dev/sda1. Boot until login screen: kvm 79 95 s kvm 83 165 s Login until windows jingle: kvm 79 20 s kvm 83 over 300 s I use kernel 2.6.28-1~experimental.1~snapshot.12608. The problem occured with previous 2.6.28 Debian and Ubuntu kernel packages too. kvm statistics for version 79 after windows jingle: efer_reload 0 0 exits 8470867 10919 fpu_reload 380423 3 halt_exits 42097 919 halt_wakeup 2083 0 host_state_reload 1723324 1108 hypercalls 0 0 insn_emulation 971952 1434 insn_emulation_fail 6 0 invlpg 247722 77 io_exits 3062864 6246 irq_exits 64350 55 irq_injections 137334 1007 irq_window 0 0 largepages 0 0 mmio_exits 21030 0 mmu_cache_miss 150935 333 mmu_flooded 133748 320 mmu_pde_zapped 27018 0 mmu_pte_updated 671323 1271 mmu_pte_write 738492 1431 mmu_recycled 1288 0 mmu_shadow_zapped 149778 340 mmu_unsync 888 0 nmi_window 0 0 pf_fixed 3016585 3277 pf_guest 428835 3 remote_tlb_flush 0 0 request_irq 0 0 signal_exits 1 0 tlb_flush 1339588 948 kvm statistics for version 83 after windows jingle: efer_reload 0 0 exits 24487845 30166 fpu_reload 771705 83 halt_exits 18751 600 halt_wakeup 187 0 host_state_reload 7539547 1331 hypercalls 0 0 insn_emulation 2868945 2164 insn_emulation_fail 12 1 invlpg 265645 1294 io_exits 15475477 7450 irq_exits 103510 349 irq_injections 1097206 1072 irq_window 0 0 largepages 0 0 mmio_exits 22484 0 mmu_cache_miss 236150 550 mmu_flooded 213345 452 mmu_pde_zapped 30238 144 mmu_pte_updated 1024986 1893 mmu_pte_write 1131874 2117 mmu_recycled 1936 0 mmu_shadow_zapped 234982 614 mmu_unsync 969 6 nmi_window 0 0 pf_fixed 4830754 17515 pf_guest 418504 1672 remote_tlb_flush 0 0 request_irq 0 0 signal_exits 1 0 tlb_flush 1929545 3562 -- Psssst!
