tag 372289 +wontfix thanks Hi, setting wontfix for this tag. mutt is providing a mime.types and the mime.types for .tar.gz files is also distributed by mime-support.
What we can do is having a debian package which is working correctly with its dependencies, we cannot fix a problem of a missing line in a mime file if the common behavior is to provide that line in the mime file.
