Package: microcode.ctl

Hi,
I think it'd be good if the package can provide a mechanism to update
the firmware after package installation. I suspect the firmware file's
changed on people.debian.org since I installed 1.11-1, but my
microcode.dat never got updated. Maybe ask the user if they want to
install a cron job, or provide a script that has the functionality that
is in the package's postinst?
The firmware change very rarely (better: Intel send us
microcode rarely), so there are no new microcode.
It is not totally clear how to handle updates (see other bug,
about need to sign microcode).
Now i rlease a new package every time it come a new microcode
(upstream author mix the microcode and the loader, so for
consistency about version, I will update the loader
version at every microcode).
So for unstable e testing everybody should have a recent version
of microcode.
For the stable distribution, maybe I should use the volatile
distribution.
Anyway, I don't think people need a cron job to update microcode,
but this could change if we had frequently microcode update
ciao
