I tried to build petsc from source using the newer hyper 2.4 since 2.0 is no longer available (Bug #511117) but got no luck. The relevant error message is "--with-hypre-dir=/usr did not work ********************************************************************************* make: *** [build-arch] Error 1 dpkg-buildpackage: failure: debian/rules build gave error exit status 2" Workaround: delete "--with-hypre=1 --with-hypre-dir=/usr" from debian/rules. Loss of some functionality, though.
