Package: devscripts
Version: 2.10.44
Severity: normal

        Hi!

The automatism for sorting the debdiff arguments is overautomated. It
shouldn't do so for e.g. backports or volatile where the version is by
default usually lower. Matching for ~bpo and ~vola would do the trick
here, but some people still would want debdiff behave like casual diff:
Always comparing version1 to version2 no matter what the version compare
would give.

So please give at least a posibility to disable this through
~/.devscripts and not force-feed this DWIM automatism with requiring
people to use --no-auto-ver-sort all the time when they rather want to
have it behave like other diff tools in the first place. This is the
reason why I put it as normal and not minor because it's a change in
expected behavior, and the manpage explains this only next to the option
and not in the DESCRIPTION paragraph.

 Thanks.
Rhonda
