Hello, Thank you. Up to the kernel 2.6.26, ath5k does not work ( http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=463860), so it is not an alternative to madwifi. I do not know with newer kernels, because they are not in Debian yet.
What about reopening this bug and reassigning it to madwifi-source?
