I think maybe what I really want is for elisp to grow stronger typing,
but this bug report is clearly the wrong place for that. I also believe
that there's still a human-factors bug here, but I'm having a hard time
articulating exactly what is wrong or what I would like to happen given
the constraints of Emacs' architecture. Therefore, I concede the point.
Please close this bug.
Let me end by again emphasizing that your efforts on Debian are very
much appreciated. I have been using it daily for 10 years now.
