Hello,

After removing my numerically-named accounts, I began to re-encounter
the strange hanging effect I mentioned on an email account with a
"regular" (I.E., starting with an alpha-character account.) Thinking
my suspicion on the cause of the problem was wrong, I used the
alternate format of "such-and-such+privatedomain....@privatedomain.com"
in my retchmail.conf file, and the problem went away.

In the world of budget shared web-hosting, the "+" symbol is available
for when an "at" sign in an account name might confuse the software. I
now believe this to be the case with retchmail.

[As an aside, this is just the reason I use one ftp client over
another, some can't handle an account name with an "at" sigh in it.]

At any rate, please therefore edit this bug report to be a wishlist
item against retchmail's documentation, that the man page on
retchmail.conf should indicate that users with account names on pop
servers with an "at" sign should use the "plus" sign instead.

Lastly, the reason I did not think this was the problem initially was
that I used retchmail under Etch for several years without this
problem. I don't know what, in the changeover from Etch to Lenny could
cause this to change, but that is apparently what happened.

cheers,
---
Scotty Fitzgerald
