Closer inspection reveals that in /usr/share/apps/knetworkconf/backends/network-conf the array @platforms only contains release numbers (debian-x.y) and testing (debian-testing), while check_debian in platform.pl returns debian-lenny for 5.0 and debian-etch for 4.0. This is bad, we could either add debian-{etch,lenny} to @platforms in network-conf or modify the %vermap hash in platform.pl to return 4.0 and 5.0 unchanged instead of changing it into a codename.
