Package: inotify-tools
Version: 3.3-1
Severity: normal

inotifywait has a serious problem, with my debian kernel :

# uname -a
Linux memento 2.6.26-1-amd64 #1 SMP Mon Dec 15 17:25:36 UTC 2008 x86_64
GNU/Linux

When i launch this command :
inotifywait -e close_write,create,delete,delete_self -r -m --format %f
/home/xxxxx/

Result is :

Couldn't initialize inotify.  Are you running Linux 2.6.13 or later,
and
was the
CONFIG_INOTIFY option enabled when your kernel was compiled?  If so,
something mysterious has gone wrong.  Please e-mail
ro...@mcgovern.id.au
and mention that you saw this message.

What is the solution ?

Downgrade kernel ? 2.6.25 ?

Thanks.
Alex.
