This bug still exists in the Debian 2.6.11 kernel package, and I believe it also existed in 2.6.9. It's a problem other people have seen with certain motherboards as well. The messages seem to be spurious and make it nearly impossible to use the console.
Also note that I did not report it against 2.4.18; I think my bug report must have gotten merged with those for earlier kernels, and then the problem was simply presumed to be fixed in later kernels by developers.
