Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-amd64 Version: 2.6.26-12 Severity: important When I run my Samsung Q45 laptop on battery power, the screen is dimmed to save power. This is fine, except that it is dimmed too much--the screen becomes so dark that it is basically unusable if there are any external sources of light (the sun, or room lighting when it's night time).
The dimming happens in a weird way--it seems to redefine the value of 100% brightness, as if I run 'xbacklight --get' while the screen is dark, it still returns '100'. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 2.6.26-1-amd64 (Debian 2.6.26-11) (wa...@debian.org) (gcc version 4.1.3 20080623 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.2-23)) #1 SMP Wed Nov 26 18:26:02 UTC 2008 ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-1-amd64 root=/dev/mapper/durandal-root ro quiet ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [426485.932705] ata1.00: configured for UDMA/100 [426485.932751] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] 488397168 512-byte hardware sectors (250059 MB) [426485.932769] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off [426485.932772] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00 [426485.932802] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA [426486.304453] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Starting disk [426486.324460] ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:02.0[A] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16 [426486.324469] PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:02.0 to 64 [426486.330039] Restarting tasks ... <6>usb 3-2: USB disconnect, address 18 [426486.364144] done.
