The "orginal configuraion" after apt-get install is: synflood:~# cat /etc/prelude-nids/prelude-nids.debian.conf # Config file for prelude-nids INTERFACE="eth0" NIDS_USER="nobody" Changing 'NIDS_USER' to 'root' helps, then the sensor can registrate w/o problems at the manger.
