KVM's gdb stub appears to be broken at least when debugging a 64-bit guest on a 64-bit system (I haven't tried any other combinations; I can do so if it would be useful). I launch kvm using kvm -hda /dev/lunatique/hackme-disk -boot c -net nic -net tap -vnc localhost:2 -serial stdio -s -S And attach gdb.
