Package: screenruler Version: 0.85-1 Severity: important
Screenruler has wrong real life size on-screen in most cases. Screenruler checks for gnome-configuration in path /desktop/gnome/font_rendering/dpi. If not set it uses a default resolution of 72.0 dots per inch. Screenruler should check the X-server's information about screen size / resolution and use this to display the correct size of the ruler on-screen. As a workaround there should be a README file included which contains this bug-report and the following advice, so that users don't wonder about wrong real-life metrics and start a big search: In case your screen resolution is NOT 72.0 dots per inch and gconf isn't set, you will have to manipulate the resolution manually in the /usr/bin/screenruler script. Replace DEFAULT_PPI = 86.0 with DEFAULT_PPI = <your_resolution> where <your_resolution> is the resolution you found out by this command: xdpyinfo | grep resolution -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=C, lc_ctype=de...@euro (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages screenruler depends on: ii libcairo-ruby 1.6.3-1 Cairo bindings for the Ruby langua ii libgconf2-ruby 0.17.0~rc1-6 GConf 2 bindings for the Ruby lang ii libglade2-ruby 0.17.0~rc1-6 Libglade 2 bindings for the Ruby l ii libgtk2-ruby 0.17.0~rc1-6 GTK+ bindings for the Ruby languag ii ruby 4.2 An interpreter of object-oriented screenruler recommends no packages. screenruler suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
