Package: screenruler
Version: 0.85-1
Severity: important

Screenruler has wrong real life size on-screen in most cases.

Screenruler checks for gnome-configuration in path
/desktop/gnome/font_rendering/dpi.
If not set it uses a default resolution of 72.0 dots per inch.

Screenruler should check the X-server's information about screen size /
resolution and use
this to display the correct size of the ruler on-screen.

As a workaround there should be a README file included which contains this
bug-report and
the following advice, so that users don't wonder about wrong real-life metrics
and start
a big search:

In case your screen resolution is NOT 72.0 dots per inch and gconf isn't set,
you will
have to manipulate the resolution manually in the /usr/bin/screenruler script.
Replace

DEFAULT_PPI             = 86.0

with

DEFAULT_PPI             = <your_resolution>

where <your_resolution> is the resolution you found out by this command:

xdpyinfo | grep resolution
