 That's not true like Simon pointed out, at least not as a general
statement.

 The rational reason is that the support for the Homepage source control
field is still rather young and it wasn't adopted by all packages yet.

 That's not true neither. For the source code related to the binary
package there is the source link in the pages, and where the source was
downloaded from is a required part of the copyright file which is linked
from every package page, too.

 I'm not sure if I fully understand that claim. In what way do you mean
that Debian takes credit here where credit should be due otherwise?
Maybe you want to be referred to the copyright file linked from each
package page?

 That was a change that Ubuntu created to the abiword package and didn't
care to push it back to us - which is quite unfortunate. I am sure that
the package maintainers of abiword would have incorporated that
informations without any hesitation.

 That's why the Homepage source control field was approved and is
already implemented in quite a fair amount of packages. It's not half
the source package count yet, but it's on its way to get there and won't
stop. :)
