Stefan O'Rear (sorear) mentioned to me at irc.freenode.net ##crawl that there's a bug in Crawl 0.4.1, which is the version you have packaged: the player's skills train ten times too fast. This makes the game easier than it was meant to be. It was fixed in CVS[1], then in the next released version of crawl[2]. Please package the latest version of crawl (0.4.3) so that this problem will be gone.
