Package: SVGATextMode Version: 1.9-12 Severity: normal
Hi, After upgrade to sarge I find that the SVGATextMode cursor is absent on tty2 to tty6 on startup. It is present and working correctly on tty1. My /etc/TextConfig has uncommented lines for the Cursor as Cursor 28-31 # underline cursor: the default. Further the kernel does not support frame buffer (shown below) # # Graphics support # # CONFIG_FB is not set CONFIG_VIDEO_SELECT=y # # Console display driver support # CONFIG_VGA_CONSOLE=y # CONFIG_MDA_CONSOLE is not set CONFIG_DUMMY_CONSOLE=y I am able to get cursor working by manually restarting after bootup as in /etc/init.d/svgatextmode restart. This makes the cursor work in all virtual terminals. I do not have a link from /etc/rc2.d to /etc/init.d/svgatextmode. Is this necessary ? If so the install/upgrade script must add it. But this would effectively cause starting svgatextmode twice during bootup. Also not having the cursor line uncommented did not cause a problem in the woody version of this program but does seem to do so in sarge. If this is indeed the case the upgrade script should check or warn regarding this. Not sure if this is relevant but I am running gpm and the gpm cursor works on all terminals normally. regards b thomas -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.11 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages SVGATextMode depends on: ii console-tools 1:0.2.3dbs-56 Linux console and font utilities ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
