Package: ruby1.8 Version: 1.8.7.72-1 Severity: normal
Hello I find the fact that the only rubies available in Lenny are 1.8.7 and 1.9 somewhat frustrating. The code I write and debug on 1.8.7 regularly fails on other 1.8 rubies, and the other way around. The problem is that ruby 1.8.7 adds new methods which are not available in earlier 1.8 and changes the return types of some core methods (1.9 backports). Since people interested in these features can use 1.9 on debian I do not see any reason for including 1.8.7. On the other hand, real ruby1.8 (without incompatible 1.9 backports) would be very helpful.
