Sorry, never got back to this. That check is good, but what I was thinking with the original bug is that you should check the binaries for the ".gnu_debuglink" and make sure that what it's pointing at exists and is in the right place in the -dbg package. I can no longer remember what prompted me to file this bug originally. I must have run into a case where it was broken, but I can't recall the case now... Whatever you decide to do is fine.
