Your fontconfig file overrides the family name that is being requested from fontconfig by the user or application. This is absolutely unacceptable. I have msttcorefonts installed which provide original MS fonts. So suddenly, after upgrading ttf-liberation, I can no longer get what I expect from usual family names like Arial or Times New Roman.
