Accidentally attempted to build against libdb3-dev_3.2.9_dfsg-0.1 (which Provides: libdb-dev). Buildlog in attach. Build against libdb4.2-dev_4.2.52+dfsg-5 succeeds. Honestly, I should attempt against libdb4.1-dev_4.1.25-18 first; but achieving that would be a big deal of setup.
