Package: autoconf Version: 2.63 Severity: wishlist Comparing the autoconf 2.63 debian package with a local upstream install, I find some differences. Part of the patch is this:

M4 1.4.11 has been in debian stable since April 2008, it seems. I suspect the debian package wasn't built on an up to date debian unstable (or even testing) machine. Btw, autoconf recommends m4 1.4.11 or later: ** Autoconf now requires GNU M4 1.4.5 or later. Earlier versions of M4 have a bug in macro tracing that interferes with the interaction between Autoconf and Automake. GNU M4 1.4.11 or later is recommended. The configure search for a working M4 is improved. Would it be possible to upload a new experimental package built on an up to date debian unstable or testing machine?
