I am having this problem. 

It does seem to be medium specific. 

I have just finished using a stack of Maxell discs with no problems. 
Those are gone and I am trying to use a stack of generic CD-R's I got at
Target. I have used many of these generic discs before with no problem,
maybe a year or so ago. But now with the current version of wodim they
are not working.
