Package: pristine-tar
Version: 0.18
Severity: wishlist

pristine-gz's delta format consists of a gzip-compressed tarball of five
files:

- version, containing the format version "2.0"
- type, containing "gz"
- params, containing the parameters for zgz
- filename, containing the original filename, if applicable
- timestamp, containing the original timestamp, if applicable

Filename and timestamp could just become parameters to zgz, and users of
pristine-gz other than pristine-tar may have their own way of handling
version and type. Thus, please consider providing a way to have
pristine-gz just output the necessary parameters for zgz to generate the
gzip file.

Given that filename could potentially contain spaces and other
metacharacters, It would also help if this output used '\0' to separate
parameters rather than a space.

Thanks,
Josh Triplett
