I reproduced the same problem with just qemu, and riku provided a patch that fixed the issue for me. It'll be part of 0.9.1-8, currently also to be found at http://nchipin.kos.to/qemu/ One of the patches included is already part of kvm, but 62_fix-ptyblocking.patch is new and it built and fixed the problem for me.
