Aaron M. Ucko suggested a possible cause for this problem. Could you please 
test this patch? You have to build the package yourself as I don't have a 
public hosting place right now.

To build and install, do the following:

$ dget \
 http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/c/csound/csound_5.08.2~dfsg-2.dsc
$ cd csound_*
$ fakeroot debian/rules binary/csound-gui
$ sudo dpkg -i ../csound-gui*

You may need to install development packages (apt-get build-dep csound).
