http://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=689547 contains a working patch for a more recent version of gpl ghostscript. Current GNU gv versions (beginning with 3.6.2 (first workaround) resp.- 3.6.3 (improved workaround)) are containing a quite good workaround for this bug. Note that this bug has been fixed in GNU ghostscript 8.62.0, but not in gpl ghostscript 8.62 and 8.63.
