The sbornik.pdf crash seems to be the same bug as #464753. However the 0712.2716v1 crash is not #464753.
Running xpdf under valgrind, there's memory corruption bug in the lesstif2 library, which is now logged as #503361 lesstif2: Assumes 32-bit longs on AMD64 After patching that bug, there's still a memory corruption to find with xpdf and 0712.2716v1.
