Is there a reason for the hash-like naming of folders and files? There's no point for it and is very inconvenient for handling files. Could someone please explain why gpodder handles files this way, and if there could be a change made to have logical naming of folders and files.

See this entry in the gPodder FAQ:

http://wiki.gpodder.org/wiki/FAQs#What_about_these_odd_directory_and_file_names_that_look_like_MD5_sums.3F

That said, we are working on it:

You can subscribe to that bug to get informed when the feature will be available by default. For now, you have the experimental_file_naming in the advanced preferences dialog, which will enable said functionality, BUT it's experimental - meaning you have got to keep the pieces in case it breaks (but tell us about it, so we can fix it for other people).

Thanks for your bug report!
