I can as well confirm the bug in Debian Lenny (Gramps 3.0.1) as the successful
import with the package from Debian Unstable (Gramps 3.0.3).

I couldn't open my data from earlier Debian Gramps versions any more. It didn't
matter to which file format I exported it - importing always failed.

Please consider migration of Gramps 3.0.3 to Debian Lenny as its inclusion is
blocked by freeze.

For a longtime Gramps user this bug is severe: Imagine a Gramps user has
created a huge family tree with people, their birth dates and relations. This
work takes some time. But all this data might be as good as lost if he/she
isn't able to import this data after upgrading to Lenny.
