Hi, xl2tpd 1.2.3 fixes the broken DESTDIR/PREFIX usage in the Makefile.
As for the kernel l2tp part. I will look at the code Alexey put in this report. If it works and does not break anything else, then I will release 1.2.4 with this fix. I am not sure why pppd needs a pppol2tp.so plugin. pppd should not even be aware it is running over ipsec over l2tp? What does that module do? AS far as I know, the kernel module handles decapsulation of l2tp data packets, and passes control packets back to userland for xl2tpd.
