When I first go into the directory and try to play one song, the
following happens:

1. A playlist is created and downloaded
2. RealPlayer launches but then tells me the requested file is not
found, perhaps the link is outdated, etc.
3. The tail of the Apache2 error log shows:

[Wed Oct 29 11:56:30 2008] [error] [client 64.252.143.180] File does not
exist: /av/music/jazz/Brand X/Do They Hurt

4. If I look in /tmp, I can see the generated playlist and play it with
mplayer without any problems.

Subsequent attempts to play the song that generated the failure(s) above
result in nothing happening, i.e. no realplayer launch or (new)
playlist.

<* suspected '?' in directory title as it was not reported in the error
message, did 'mv "Do They Hurt?" "Do They Hurt" and *>

VOILA! All functions work for that directory. :-D

But then...

'Shuffle All', 'Stream All' on jazz directory renders:

[Wed Oct 29 12:44:12 2008] [notice] child pid 8322 exit signal Floating
point exception (8)
[Wed Oct 29 12:44:13 2008] [notice] child pid 8458 exit signal Floating
point exception (8)

I suspect one or more corrupted .mp3 files caused by incomplete
(bittorrent) download may be the culprit. I have a short list of
suspects, will investigate and report back.
