Package: faad2
Version: 2.6.1-3.1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

your package complies to Debian Policy 3.8.0. According to this, sufficient information should be provided about how to produce the fully patched source code, ready for editing and building binary packages. Since you use the pristine upstream tarball as the orig.tar.gz and use the dpatch patch tracking system, this should not be an issue here, although no README.source file is provided.

However, you apply a ~1,5MB patch called 99_autotools-regenerated.dpatch which obviously bootstrapps the source running autotools and stuff. Would you please document how you created this patch, i.e. which commands were run in which order, etc.? This will make it easier for people to rebuild the packages if they apply changes before the last patch is applied.

Thank you very much!

Cheers,
Fabian
