Thanks for the patch.  This works like a charm--the checklevel logic
is definitely preferred but I wasn't sure how to use it, so I decided
to model my solution after the way Fluxbox implements menu.  However,
this is definitely better--I just stripped off the extra commented
level numbers.

I figure I'll wait a bit to push this one, since my track record is
rather bad on this setup.
