I've hit this problem myself. I found Ubuntu seems to be looking at this https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/coherence/+bug/278790 and refers to a workaround here: http://coherence.beebits.net/wiki/RhythmBox#JontysNotesJuly13th2008 I've done this and can confirm gupnp tools now see rhythmbox. I can also see and play tracks across the network with my n800. However, what I was really looking for was for rhythmbox to detect other upnp servers and offer to play material on them. That still seems not to work, but it is hard to know since I have no idea what I should see.
